SSA Marine Mexico, IMADES, and CONAFOR Launch the 2026 Forest Fire Campaign

On April 8, 2026, the Forest Fire Campaign 2026 was launched with the participation of SSA Marine Mexico, IMADES, the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), and the Association of Forestry Professionals. The event highlighted their commitment and efforts to protect the state’s natural resources and recognized the valuable work of the firefighting brigades—which also include women—thereby promoting inclusion and the responsible management of Colima’s territory as part of the state’s environmental strategies. The event was led by Biologist Carmen Zamora, Head of CONAFOR’s State Representative Office in Colima, and featured the participation of Angélica Jiménez, director of the Institute for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the State of Colima (IMADES), as well as the presence of Colima State Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva, personnel from the Ministry of the Navy, representatives of the Naval Region, and Fernanda Farías and Karina Gutiérrez representing SSA Marine Mexico. As part of the event, the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by SSA Marine Mexico was officially handed over to the firefighters. State and federal authorities expressed special thanks to SSA Marine Mexico for its collaboration and participation in the second and third phases of the COBIOCOM program, corresponding to: • Forest firefighting brigades and the creation of firebreaks, and • Environmental remediation actions. This collaboration reaffirms SSA Marine Mexico’s commitment to environmental protection, the prevention of environmental risks, and coordinated work with authorities to strengthen environmental management and the conservation of Colima’s forest ecosystems.
